The Police Commission felt a duty to the community to hire the best candidate available for the role, and it became clear through the recruitment process that Chief Murphy\u2019s experience and current performance in his work made him the best candidate for the role in Medicine Hat.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Murphy, Deputy Police Chief of the Edmonton Police Service, has been acting as the Interim Police Chief of the MHPS on secondment assignment from EPS since October 12, 2022. The Medicine Hat Police Commission has been impressed with Chief Murphy\u2019s forward thinking and pro-active approach to policing and look forward to his continued work and the positive impact it will have on the service and the community of Medicine Hat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe future of policing in Medicine Hat is very bright with Chief Murphy at the helm.\u201d said Medicine Hat Police Commission Chair, Ted Rodych. \u201cThe Medicine Hat Police Commission feel strongly that Chief Murphy\u2019s skillset and approach to policing have positioned him as the ideal person for the role as Police Chief.
