Public Survey on Policing and Community Safety Launches March 17, 2026

The Medicine Hat Police Commission is launching a month‑long public survey to gather community input on perceptions of policing and community safety in Medicine Hat.

“Our goal is to better understand and respond to community concerns about public safety in our city,” said Paul Carolan, Chair of the Medicine Hat Police Commission. “The Commission will use the results to support our work with the Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS) as we develop the Service’s strategic plan and outline objectives for the next business cycle.”

Framework Partners Inc., a strategic planning and market research firm, has been contracted to independently collect and analyze the feedback.

Survey topics include:

  • Road safety
  • Municipal Enforcement Section
  • Criminal investigation
  • Uniformed Officers
  • Policing as a whole
  • The Medicine Hat Police Commission

Individual responses will be kept confidential and will not be shared with the MHPS except in summarized form. As part of the research, residents will be randomly selected to participate in a telephone interview or invited to complete an online survey.

Survey results will be compared with findings from previous surveys. General results will be shared with the community at the June17, 2026 Open Police Commission meeting.
